3 Types of letter
When you write, just write simply. Write as if you are talking to your best friend on the
patio about your topic. The language should not be stiff or awkward–just really easy to
read.
1) A welcome letter. Thank the reader for subscribing to your newsletter and perhaps list
some of the things they can expect to learn or receive via the newsletter or e-course.
2) Informational letters. These letters are not designed to sell anything at all; they simply
give the reader useful information. In the dog training example, each of these letters
would give the reader a “tip of the day” on dog training. And be sure and give out useful
information. The reader will judge the competency of your product by the competency of
your information. Don’t be afraid to give out useful information for free.
3) Sales letters. Write these later on in the sequence, once you have developed a
relationship with the reader. And don’t really try to sell in your letters. Simply
recommend the product—tell them what you have found useful in it, or if it is your own
product, why you chose to create it. Then give them a link to your web site, or give them
the affiliate link.
How to turn ugly message to profitable message?
One easy tip you can use to start by building the relationship is edit the basic opt-in
response from this:
“Please click the link below to opt in to…’s ezine”
To something more like this:
“Hey $firstname$, your just one step away from the information you just asked to
receive. All you got to do now is click the link below and you will begin to get every
thing you asked for!”
Another thing you can do is change the out going address of your auto responder (mail) to your
full name, make sure that every chance you have to relate to the subscriber as a real
person and use their name do so!
